They have large snouts with visible horns, and distinct nostrils. Their ears are pointed upwards, their eyes are on the sides of their heads, and their upper jaw hooks downwards over their lower jaw. Between {{DnM}} and {{DnMe+}}, the rhinoceros' snouts ended in a rounded bump, but as of {{WW}}, their snouts instead slowly slope upward towards the end. {{NH}} notably redesigned rhinoceroses to feature smaller mouths, shorter ears, and gave their snouts a distinct shape from the rest of their heads. Additionally, [[Azalea]], [[Renée]], and [[Rhonda]] only have one horn at the end of their nose, whereas the other rhinoceroses have an additional, smaller horn behind it.

There are nine rhinoceroses so far, one of which is an [[islander]]. Six are female and three are male, making it a predominantly female species. Of these, three are [[normal]], two are [[snooty]], one is [[lazy]], one is [[jock]], one is [[cranky]], and one is [[big sister]]. There are currently no [[peppy]] or [[smug]] rhinoceroses.

[[Patricia]] and [[Tiara]] are the only rhinoceroses who have not reappeared since {{DnMe+}}. Renée is also absent from {{PC}}. Additionally, [[Tank]] is the only rhinoceros to appear in every game so far.
