During the event, [[Isabelle]] can be found in front of the [[Town Tree]] in the [[event plaza]] next to a specially-themed photo standee, but will instead relocate in front of the [[town hall]] if the event happens to coincide with the March [[Fishing Tourney]] (as it does in 2018). If the player talks to Isabelle, she will inform the player about the holiday and give them a {{I|shamrock hat|New Leaf}}.

While initially absent in {{NH|nolink}}, Shamrock Day was added in the {{NHVer|1.8.0|full}}. The event is celebrated from March 10 to 17 in three separate occasions. The first is a [[Nook Shopping seasonal event]] where the player can buy a {{I|shamrock doorplate|NH}}, {{I|shamrock rug|NH}}, and {{I|shamrock soda|NH}}. The second is an [[Able Sisters]] seasonal event where the player can purchase a {{I|shamrock hat|NH}}, {{I|shamrock shoes|NH}}, {{I|shamrock suit|NH}}, and {{I|shamrock sunglasses|NH}}. Lastly, the player can pop balloons to obtain a [[DIY recipe]] for a {{I|shamrock wand|NH}}.
