Swimming is a new feature in Animal Crossing: New Leaf. First shown in a trailer during E3, players have the ability swim in the ocean. Players can also dive, the purpose being to find Seafood.

In order to swim, players will need to obtain a wet suit. Once the player is wearing a wetsuit, they should press A to enter the ocean. They can either walk into the ocean from the Beach or jump off of the Dock or a cliff. Once in the water, players have to move by holding the cricle pad in the direction they want to go and by repeatedly tapping A. Players can dive by pressing Y, and can stay underwater for 8 seconds. They can also move underwater by pressing A. With this, you can trick friends in multiplayer, because you have the shape of a fish when you're underwater.
