The golden carpet could be obtained in a letter from Nintendo if the player was connected to WiiConnect24 during the item's distribution period.

Trivia
- When distributed, the golden carpet was promoted as part of the non-existent Golden Series, with a note that the HRA would not actually score it as such.[1] In-game, this and the other "golden" items are not part of any HRA collection. The Golden Series would later be introduced in Animal Crossing: New Leaf.
